RI Responds to Myanmar Emergency

RI is providing urgent medical care to thousands of survivors in the wake of the devastating Myanmar cyclone disaster. As the death toll continues to soar - as many as 130,000 are estimated to have lost their lives - RI is working with teams of local doctors and health professionals to provide life-saving services to the most vulnerable and help contain the rapid spread of infectious disease.

Currently several medical teams are working around the clock in 4 RI-supported health clinics in South Dagon. To reach remote populations, RI has also established mobile clinics to provide emergency treatment to those unable to access available resources. RI continues to expand its operations to damaged areas and is conducting ongoing assessments in Kunchan Gone township and outlying areas.

RI has been working in the region and has ongoing programs in neighboring Indonesia and Sri Lanka. RI successfully brought emergency relief to families and communities affected by the 2004 Southeast Asia Tsunami and the 2006 Central Java earthquake. RI will now use its expertise to bring much needed assistance to the people of Myanmar.

To help, please donate now to RI's Emergency Response Fund (ERF). The ERF is RI's revolving emergency fund, drawn upon only for emergencies throughout the world, including the current crisis in Myanmar.
