Ossama Hassanein of Newbury Ventures is a veteran of the communications industry, having played active and diverse roles for over 35 years in the industry as an educator, entrepreneur, corporate executive and venture investor. In 1997, he joined Newbury Ventures and the same year became founding Chairman and director of Technocom Ventures, a seed financing venture capital company managed jointly with France Telecom in Paris. Dr. Hassanein is a co-founding investor of several companies spun out from Newbridge Networks and France Telecom.
Dr. Hassaenein received his B.Sc. in electrical engineering (distinctions, first class honors) from the University of Alexandria, his M.Sc. in electrical engineering and M.B.A. from the University of British Columbia. He completed his Ph.D. program in electrical engineering at the University of British Columbia, and also holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the California Coast University.
