Zohre Elahian is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the Global Catalyst Foundation (GCF). GCF is a private foundation whose mission is to improve peoples' lives through the effective application of information technologies. The Foundation initiates and supports innovative projects worldwide to improve education, alleviate poverty, promote social tolerance and celebrate diversity. GCF has founded 50 projects in developing countries, one of which is a connectivity project in Tanzania for Burundian refugees. Ms. Elahian has traveled extensively for her work, going to Afghanistan, Africa, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Switzerland, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Bulgaria, India, and Egypt. As RI-SOL's Country Director for Iran, she has been heading relief and reconstruction efforts after the destruction caused by the Bam earthquake.
