Relief International seeks humanitarians ready to deploy globally in the case of a disaster or emergency. The ideal candidate will be ready to deploy with one week's notice. Team members will conduct initial needs assessments, coordinate with acting agencies, and design and implement relief projects.
  • For inclusion in the Rapid Emergency Deployment (RED) Teams RI conducts a level of prescreening, training and requires an ability to deploy with short notice.
  • Members of the RED Teams are expected to have specific skill sets and/or previous international experience.
  • Assignments as short as 2 weeks may be accepted.
  • RI provides for international insurance, food, housing and logistical support to RED Team members. In some cases RI may also provide for the cost of international airfare. Professional volunteers who can cover their own airfare may receive preference.
  • RI provides specific pre-departure training opportunities for volunteers who have been selected for participation in RI's RED Teams.

"I have worked all over the world in search and rescue and disaster management. In Sri Lanka, RI was the only small and highly mobile group that got to a population that was stranded by the Tsunami. I will keep coming back to work with Relief International because of their incredible commitment to people in crises."
