There are a variety of ways you can join Relief International in helping save lives and improve the livelihoods of people around the world. RI offers opportunities to volunteer and intern both in the United States and internationally and in both Development as well as Emergency Response capacities.
International Volunteer Opportunities - Development Programs
- International volunteer opportunities usually require professional experience in a relevant field (including in health [such as public health, emergency medicine, reproductive health], nutrition, agriculture, engineering, social work/sociology, refugee assistance, economic development, accounting, logistics, administration, etc.).
- If accepted, at a minimum RI provides for international insurance, food, housing and logistical support. Minimum terms of service are 3 and sometimes 6 months depending on the specific mission. Professional volunteers who can cover their own travel expenses may serve on missions of shorter duration.

International Volunteer Opportunities - Rapid Emergency Deployment Teams
- For inclusion in the Rapid Emergency Deployment (RED) Teams RI conducts a level of prescreening, training and requires an ability to deploy with short notice.
- Members of the RED Teams are expected to have specific skill sets and/or previous international experience.
- Assignments as short as 2 weeks may be accepted.
- RI provides for international insurance, food, housing and logistical support to RED Team members. In some cases RI may also provide for the cost of international airfare. Professional volunteers who can cover their own airfare may receive preference.
- RI provides specific pre-departure training opportunities for volunteers who have been selected for participation in RI's RED Teams.

International Internship Opportunities
- Student internship programs allow for more structured and supervised missions.
- International internships do not include pay but may depending on the specific case allow for airfare. At a minimum RI provides for international insurance, food, housing and logistical support.
- For security reasons internships tend to be in areas non-conflict areas. RI's program in the education sector offer opportunities for interns to get involved in programs such as ICT training and English as a second language. Opportunities exist for graduate students to participate in community development, agriculture, refugee assistance, or other programs.

Domestic Volunteer & Internship Opportunities
- A variety of domestic volunteer and internship opportunities exist at RI's US offices (Los Angeles, Redwood Shores & Washington DC), in RI-Japan (Tokyo) and RI-UK (London).
- RI has a strong commitment of preferential hiring from its pool of dedicated volunteers and interns when such paid employment opportunities arise.
- Domestic volunteer and internship opportunities are available in relevant areas such as program research and development, operational support, fundraising, public relations, graphics, web design, information technology, administration, accounting, etc.).
- Domestic internships may include paid positions (entry, junior and senior levels). A minimum of 15 hours per week and a minimum commitment of 3 months are required for paid internships.
