Lessons on Community Enterprise Interventions for Landscape/Seascape Level Conservation documents learning from seven Global Conservation Program (GCP) sites in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The GCP has the primary objective to conserve globally significant in situ biodiversity. The GCP is funded and managed by USAID and implemented by six conservation partners – EnterpriseWorks/VITA, African Wildlife Foundation, Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy, Wildlife Conservation Society, and World Wildlife Fund. The GCP program focuses on landscape/seascape level conservation using a threats-based approach.
EnterpriseWorks/VITA took the lead on the learning activity that consolidated the lessons on how community enterprise interventions, in combination with other conservation activities contributed to conservation and community development across seven out of the 30 plus sites in the GCP portfolio.
Capturing over a decade of experiences the publication focusing on three learning themes:
- How has using a threats-based approach influenced engagement with community enterprise interventions
- How has the shift in scale to landscape/seacape level conservation influenced choices in enterprise development?
- How has the GCP leveraged partnerships and cross-sectoral relationships to achieve livelihood/economic outcomes that support conservation at a landscape/seascape level?
